Guide
Backups & restore
Back up your library by hand or on a schedule, and restore it on a new device.
Sync keeps your devices up to date. Backups are copies you can go back to.
Back up by hand#
Open More → Backup & restore and tap Create backup. It is free, and so is restoring one. Backups are saved on the device, in the Files app under Bokumi → Backups, and you can share one to keep it somewhere else.
Automatic backups#
With Bokumi Plus, Bokumi backs up your library in the background on a schedule you choose and keeps the last few. Older automatic backups are deleted; backups you create by hand are kept.
Restore#
Tap a backup and choose Restore. Bokumi shows what is inside before it changes anything, and lets you decide whether to restore settings too.
- Restoring adds to your library and never deletes anything.
- Restoring the same backup twice changes nothing.
- Bokumi backups restore on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Moving between reader apps#
Restore from backup also accepts a backup made by another reader app, so you can bring your series, progress, categories, history and trackers with you. See coming from another reader app.
Going the other way, Create backup for other apps saves your library, chapters, categories, history and tracking in a form other reader apps can restore. It leaves out your settings.
What is never in a backup#
Downloaded pages, the files you imported, passwords and login tokens. Downloads and imported files stay on each device, and passwords and tokens stay in its iOS Keychain.
